Camden Borough User Group

What is CBUG?

CBUG stands for Camden Borough User Group.  It is a Camden-wide forum that aims to increase the involvement of service users in developing, monitoring and evaluating mental health services.  It is a practical, work-based group that meets monthly in an Open Meeting.  Between the Open Meetings, CBUG members meet in a ‘Working Group’ to carry out and plan the projects it is involved with.

Who will be part of CBUG?

CBUG is made up of a group of people who have personal experience of the mental health services in Camden – whether these are provided by the voluntary sector, or statutory organisations ( Mind in Camden, Camden Social Services, Camden and Islington Mental Health and Social Care Trust).

CBUG is a Camden Mental Health Consortium (CMHC) project, and CBUG members must also be members of CMHC to fulfil legal requirements.

When did it start?

CBUG was formally launched in November 2001.  Since then, it has discussed a variety of topics relevant to mental health in Camden.   At its September 2002 meeting, CBUG gave feedback to the Camden and Islington Mental health and Social care Trust on its ‘Risk Assessment’ Policy.

How do I get involved?

To be eligible to join CBUG you must be using, or have used, mental health services in Camden.  Contact CMHC to find out when the CBUG Open Meetings are, and ask The Co-ordinator to send you some background information.
